Stepping Stones For Children, Inc. has been serving Madison County families since its inception in July 1998. It is owned and operated by Dr. Stephen G. Ramsay, a local Pediatrician, and his wife Robin. What started in 1998 in Berea with 6 children in an older, rented building that was originally a paint store, is now a high quality, well established, well designed program serving approximately 300 children total in 3 new free-standing buildings that were designed and built to serve as child care establishments. We now have 2 state certified Directors, 4 Assistant Directors and approximately 45 staff members. Many of our lead classroom teachers are CDA certified. All the centers are licensed by the State of Kentucky, and also have levels of certification in the STARS program of the Kids Now initiative. The STARS program is a voluntary system for identifying quality surpassing what is required by the state in licensed childcare settings. From our beginnings we have made continuous efforts to provide the best program, opportunity, and facility for the community we serve and have made progressive upgrades to our services on a regular basis. Stepping Stones facilities enjoy a very good reputation in the local community as well as at the state agency levels.
